With a network of over 50 designers, we create opportunities for designers and the public to connect through events at the intersection of fashion and art.

Together, we build a space where emerging designers can find support and grow, with a focus on sustainable practices and diverse perspectives.

We want to build a more visible, inclusive, and connected fashion scene in Finland, establishing fashion as a meaningful part of culture in Finland.

Projects

Fashion Community Helsinki organises fashion events that invite the public to engage, reflect, and connect. From curated exhibitions to sales events and unconventional fashion shows outside traditional venues, we create welcoming and open spaces where designers can showcase their work, reach new audiences, and invite more people into fashion.

Methods of Making Fashion

What does it actually take to make a garment? Methods of Making Fashion is an interactive workshop and one-night exhibition by Fashion Community Helsinki that opens up the creative processes behind contemporary fashion design. The event is part of the Fashion in Helsinki programme, taking place 26–30 May 2026.

With three designers and three distinct working methods, visitors are invited to explore how ideas evolve into garments through experimentation, construction, and decoration.

The designers are present throughout the event, guiding visitors through their creative processes and inviting them to take part hands-on. By combining fashion, process, and participation, the exhibition makes fashion design visible, accessible, and experiential.

Designers and Working Methods
Henna Lampinen, decoration and expression
Sini-Pilvi Kiilunen, pattern cutting and structure
Susanna Saarikko, form building and volume

Contact us

Fashion Community Helsinki was established in 2021 by four friends with backgrounds in fashion, business, and design. Today, three of the founders are actively involved. The initiative grew from a shared ambition to support emerging fashion designers and make fashion more inclusive and accessible beyond the industry.
